Is there a break-in period for a rebuilt DSG? My S3 feels different
So I just got my 2017 S3 back from having the DSG transmission rebuilt after it started slipping and making horrible noises a few weeks ago. The work was done by a specialist and they seemed to know what they were doing, they replaced the clutch packs, rebuilt the mechatronic unit, and put in all new fluid and filters. The car drives fine overall, no warning lights or anything dramatic, but it definitely feels different than before the rebuild. The shifts seem softer and less crisp than I remember, almost like the gearbox is being gentle with me, and there's a slight delay when I pull the paddles that wasn't there before. I'm wondering if this is normal for a freshly rebuilt transmission and whether there's some kind of break-in period where everything needs to bed in and the adaptation needs to relearn my driving style. I've been driving it gently for the last few hundred kilometers because I'm scared of damaging anything, but I'm not sure how long I should be taking it easy or if I should be driving it more normally to help the adaptation process. I've been reading online and it seems like there's a specific procedure for DSG adaptation after a rebuild, involving driving at certain speeds and doing specific gear changes. I found a place that's described as Leading Audi DSG transmission specialists in Abu Dhabi UAE, and I'm thinking I might need to take it back to someone like that to make sure the adaptation is done properly. Has anyone else had their DSG rebuilt and experienced a similar change in character? How long did it take for everything to feel normal again, and is there anything specific I should be doing during the break-in period? I'm probably overthinking this but I just want to make sure everything is as it should be.
